Macháček František - první starosta po roce 1918
Utíká to utíká. Než se nadějeme bude zde podzim a s ním i nové volby do místních samospráv. Budeme znovu volit své zástupce a patrně z nich vzejdou opět starostové. Jako před čtyřmi lety a jako vždy předtím — lhostejno, zda se ten či onen představitel města nazýval starosta nebo předseda. Jací byli a kdo vůbec byli? Odkud byli a čím se zabývali a jaké stopy zanechali v našem městě? Tato myšlenka mě zaujala natolik, že jsem začal shromažďovat všechny dostupné materiály o hlavách města — starostech —. Jde to ztuha, a jsou s tím starosti, většinou zapadli v zapomnění let minulých a snad jen dobový tisk tu a tam, většinou již v nekrologu, přinesl stručné údaje ze života hlav města. Kým začít? Také těžká otázka. Snad tím, který trochu zůstal v podvědomí a jehož jméno se občas cituje a jehož údobí “vlády” bylo převelice dlouhé. První obecní volby roku 1919 byly vítězné pro sociálně demokratickou stranu a tak se stalo, že její přední představitel usedl na radnici. Byl to František Macháček. Je 4. února roku 1994, krátce po osmnácté hodině. V Lidovém domě v Českém Brodě bude koncert skupiny Tony Ducháček & Garage. Je to skupina, která zní mladší generaci a jejíž “zvukový obraz” chápe generace střední a starší přinejmenším jako podivný hluk a většinou zavírá okna i uši. Muzikanti přijeli a zdá se, že by něco snědli a vypili. Pochopitelně se vyptávají na nějakou dobrou “hospodu” s dobrým jídlem a relativně dostupnou časově, neboť začátek koncertu je nedaleko. Naše odpovědi je neuspokojují a tak najednou slyším jemnou poznámku jednoho z nich: “To by se za mýho dědečka nemohlo stát, tady prej bylo hospod a jakejch!” Chci vysvětlení a dostává se mi ho: “Můj dědeček tady bejval dlouhý léta starostou”. Tak to už jsem zcela v pozoru. Kytarista Jan Macháček. Náhoda? “Já vo něm moc nevím, ale otec, ten ví toho dost, zajímá se vo to!” Tak fajn, dáváme adresu a Jan Macháček slibuje předání otci... 26.února 1994 doručila pošta dopis pana Ing. Svatopluka Macháčka z Prahy. Takže jak to bylo s Františkem Macháčkem, prvním českobrodským starostou, vzešlým z prvních obecních voleb v roce 1919.
František Macháček, dlouholetý starosta Českého Brodu se narodil 29. 5. 1874 v Kobylí na Moravě, kde jeho rodiče, rodem ze Svratouchu na Českomoravské vysočině, právě pobývali na cestách při prodeji plechového nádobí. Do svých 12 let navštěvoval školu ve Svratouchu. Ve škole měl vždy nejlepší prospěch. Později se rodina přestěhovala do Rousínova u Brna, kde patnáctiletý František nastoupil do učení. Po třech letech se podle svého přání vyučil hrnčířem a když v roce 1892 dostal výuční list, pracoval na různých místech na Moravě i v Čechách. Na počátku roku 1897 nastoupil práci v Českém Brodě v dílně pana Veverky. Chvíli pracoval i v Kostelci nad Černými lesy, kde se seznámil se svou budoucí manželkou Marií Kosinovou. 5. 9. 1898 se oženil. Podle dostupných informací žili v Českém Brodě v malém domku v ulici u gymnázia až do konce života. V roce 1901 se jim narodila dcera Marie, později provdaná Čermochová. Od roku 1898 pracoval v Českém Brodě v dělnickém hnutí sociální demokracie. Na počátku roku 1904 přijal místo kontrolora v okresní nemocenské pojišťovně v Českém Brodě, kde se po letech svou příkladnou pílí a sebevzděláváním vypracoval na vedoucího úředníka. Jeho práce v politickém hnutí nejen v Českém Brodě, ale na celém okrese Českobrodském byla přerušena první světovou válkou. V roce 1915 byl František Macháček povolán a nastoupil vojenskou službu v Liberci a později v Milovicích. Po dvou letech vojenské služby byl pro zhoršení zdravotního stavu vojenské služby zproštěn a po ukončení války se hned v říjnu 1918 dává znovu do práce v sociálně demokratickém hnutí. V červnu roku 1919 v prvních obecních volbách dosáhla sociálně demokratická strana v Českém Brodě plnou polovinu hlasů a tím i mandátů v obecním zastupitelstvu. František Macháček byl zvolen starostou města a pak ještě několikrát v dalších volebních obdobích. V roce 1928 byl ještě zvolen členem zastupitelstva země České a v lednu 1929 přísedícím Zemského výboru. Byl dlouholetým spolupracovníkem Dr. Františka Soukupa a 6. března 1930 byl členem delegace, která byla vyslána na Pražský hrad, aby gratulovala prezidentovi Masarykovi k 80. narozeninám. V Českém Brodě byl dlouhá léta místopředsedou strany sociálně demokratické a spoluzakladatelem Dělnické tělovýchovné jednoty, která měla za Branou vybudován na tehdejší dobu solidní společenský Lidový dům se sálem a tělocvičnou. Řadu těchto funkcí vykonával František Macháček až do konce roku 1939. Pod vlivem událostí, které vedly k rozbití a okupaci Československa se jeho plicní choroba začala prudce zhoršovat a musel se vzdát politické činnosti. Zemřel 16. 2. 1941 v Českém Brodě ve věku 67 let. Pohřeb se konal 19. 2. 1941 a byl vypraven z Lidového domu. Zesnulý byl pochován na hřbitově v Českém Brodě a později byly jeho ostatky převezeny do rodinného hrobu v Praze na Malvazinkách. Tolik pan inženýr Svatopluk Macháček. Dodává: “Jedná se pouze o základní životopisná data, chtěl bych Vás ale upozornit, že řadu dokumentů z pozůstalosti věnovala rodina již dříve městskému muzeu v Českém Brodě”. Z Lidového domu se vydal na svoji poslední pozemskou pouť a do Lidového domu se díky náhodě alespoň ve vzpomínce v roce jeho 120. narozenin vrátil... (kb) uveřejněno v Českobrodském zpravodaji č. 4/1994. Po Františku Macháčkovi byla v roce 2000 pojmenována jedna z nových ulic v Českém Brodě, nacházející se v areálu nových stavebních parcel za ulicí Jiřího Wolkera. podle podkladů Ing.
